Role:   Principal Cloud Engineer
Skills: MS Azure, Windows, Linux, CI/CD, Networking/Security/Infrastructure

A great opportunity to join a leading tehcnology organisation as part of their Cloud team. The person will be taking the role of Principal Cloud Engineer, being the technical lead for the team, demonstrating excellent skills with Azure. This is a hands-on role, as an engineer, so you will enjoy getting your hands dirty, as well as leading the team on technical issues. Further key responsibilities will be the migration of services and key products from on-premise to the cloud, driving the efficiencies of cloud platform and assisting in the move from legacy technology landscape to modern technology.

Key experience required for the Principal Cloud Engineer includes:

  • Significant Azure background - 5/6yrs exclusively with heavy infrastructure background prior to that
  • Security and Networking - general experience
  • Knowledge and experience of linux and windows environments
  • Active Directory
  • CI/CD skills
  • Scripting
  • Technical leadership

You will be seen as the Subject Matter Expert within the role and will be expected to evidence the collaborative and leadership behaviours that support working in a team with architects, developers, support staff, infrastructure engineers and testers as well as evolving and implementing the standards defined within the Cloud competency.
 
As a Principal Cloud Engineer you will show creative and innovative problem-solving skills with a willingness to take responsibility and support the wider Cloud competency for complex issues as they arise.  You will understand and set the examples of best practice and standards to develop and implement solutions that operate at scale - seeing your own technology efforts directly improve the reliability and availability of products and achieve the aspiration of “Release on Demand”.  You will own and coach others in the development efforts in each sprint from planning to delivery to realise this goal and collaborate with different teams to review, design and implement solutions.
